As of the current version (v0.7 Grand Shroom), every playable character is available from the start of the game. The plan is that, in the final version, these characters must be unlocked and will not factor into the game's plot. The roster currently consists of ten characters.

For more information, see the individual skin pages below. Other skins can be unlocked by killing certain creatures. Many skins can be obtained by unlocking certain Achievements, after which survivors will have them in their inventory every time they respawn.
To remove a skin from an item put this item in your inventory and then hold Ctrl while dragging the skin with the left-clicked mouse from the item. To Equip a skin on console select the skin, then select the item you wish to skin.
